Jason Culbertson as an Entrepreneur Jason Culbertson decided to follow a dream of wanting to become an entrepreneur and in 1999 he began his first company JC's Extreme Enchiladas. Becoming friends with a restaurateur, Jason was able to rent out the kitchen to one of his restaurants and create the enchiladas that sold very well. They started by targeting Johnson County Community College staff and students while attending. He spoke with one of the teachers and she was able to send out an email to all searching for interest. The first week of orders came in by phone and email. Jason and I took orders and surprisingly had almost 100 dozen the first week. By the time the business was thriving, which was one month later, they were selling almost 400 dozen a week. Finally after several months of a successful business, clients started asking Jason where they could go to eat them in a restaurant setting. Jason had a discussion with his friend and they both agreed to have them on special one night a week. Both businesses benefited from the extra traffic. In 2000 Jason got his real estate license to become knowledgeable, help people find their dream home and help companies find their new buildings. Becoming a Realtor was the best move he could have made. Networking with other small business owners and residents of the Kansas City and surrounding areas, Jason Culbertson is starting to make a name for himself. In 2002 Jason and I found themselves helping other real estate agents in their local office with tasks such as marketing, flyers, brand management, and much more. At this time Jason and I thought why not do this for other agents as well. That is when The Culbertson Team Real Estate Solutions was born, now known as CEO's Real Estate Virtual Assistant which was created as a DBA. Jason talked to other agents in local offices and found that there were several agents needing help to expand their business. I soon took over this business and am now running it on my own. In late 2004 I decided I wanted to branch out further into a different market. So Jason and I started coming up with an idea to help people virtually all across the United States from the comfort of our home in Paola, Kansas. Jason and I did some research and found a new type of business that was emerging called Virtual Assistance. With Jason and my business building background we felt this was a perfect fit. In early 2005 the CEO's Virtual Assistant was created. This business was targeting small to medium size businesses that required administrative help, bookkeeping, marketing, brand management and much more. This has turned out to be another successful venture for our husband and wife team. All throughout the successes there were several pitfalls. Jason and I have tried several pre-made businesses such as Avon, Tupperware, Pampered Chef and SMC. These were all non successful for us. From 2003 to 2005 Jason and I decided to try the great auction site of e-Bay. However the catch was we wouldn't go looking for specific items or specialize in any area. We would start selling items from our house and using that money to go buy out church sales, school sales and garage sales. This worked well for the first year but then e-Bay continued to raise there fees and it was time for the people like us to step out of the business. We went from making $3000 a month to making only $1000 a month. At this point Jason and I made the right choice and decided to close The Culbertson Bargain Outlet (The CBO) down. This business was not considered a failure but a learning experience. Just recently Jason and I decided to donate the rest of our inventory and be done with that business for the time being. Even through troubled time Jason and I have made a comeback with smiling faces. Every experience has been a learning experience. "All experiences are good", according to Jason, "If you do not succeed at a business that does not mean you failed, that just means you need to try harder or do something different next time. Nothing goes right the first time, every thing gets tested and upgraded to make it better." In 2007 Jason Culbertson decided to combined all our talents and DBAs under one umbrella. The Culbertson Organization, LLC was born. Under this Limited Liability Company Jason and I were able to market all our businesses and services under one roof. The Culbertson Organization, LLC continues to grow today. Jason Culbertson is on his way to being a very successful business man and I am well on my way to becoming a very successful women business owner. After all behind every great man there is greater woman. -- Susanna G. Culbertson |
